Anyone know how to beat the bookie? September 30th, 2008
do you know any real good betting systems to win money at horses or greyhounds?
No such thing mate.
Come to Newmarket, take a look around in Ladbrokes etc… they barely have enough money to buy shoes. Each yard has a tip for the same race. It's a joke.
Don't be fooled with scams. Gamble responsibly.

There is no way you can beat the bookie, when you have a nice win they gradually have it back, that is why betting shops are opening all over the high street. Have you ever seen a bookie on a bike?

don't relly have a system but always do well with trap 6 when they are favourite don't know why its just something that works for me … about the only thing really … lol …. also always look out when a top jockey such as mccoy or walsh ride under their normal weight in a handicap it usually means they are on a big fancy …

no such thing as a system to beat the bookies but it is possile to do so but very very hard & only a handful of people have the knowledge/skill to do it.
my advice is as follows.
1.specialise & be selective. only bet on what you know. don't bet on every race only when you are very confident.
2.ignore tipsters. if they knew the winners they would be backing them themselves & living in the sun not writing for the
racing post/sun/mirror/etc or sending out letters claiming they know all the inside info.
3.don't be a mug punter. bookies are very good at tempting you to give them your money. irish lottery, slot machines, virtual racing etc.walk in & walk out or better yet get a telephone/internet account.
4.study the form. study the form then study the form then study the form at least twice more!
5.watch as much racing as you possibly can & go to the races as much as you can but only bet selectivly.
6.have fun & treat it as a hobby. people comment about gambling on the horses but then pay £30 to watch pampered footballers kick a piece of pig skin etc. we all have hobbies!!
good luck.
to all the people who make silly comments regarding gambling , i bet you do the lottery where there is no skill just luck

There is no reason why you can't beat the bookie. The bookie has one thing only on his side and that is the %age to which he tries to work but if you can beat his figures you can beat him. All the choice is with the punter. All you have to do is get better odds about a horse's chance of winning than they really are. Of course it needs a lot of time and work to be that smart but it can be done, since it is impossible for anyone to assess a horse's chance correctly every time, so you have to wait until they get it wrong. Yesterday I backed a horse at 16-1 which eventually started at 6-1. It did not win, because it ran wide on the bend, but if you could get 16-1 for every 6-1 chance you would soon get your account stopped.

You don't make money by fighting with the bookie. The bookie isn't the one running around the racetrack. If he's touting bad picks, has too high of a vig or or low balling the odds-then its time to find a new book. Bet your picks not his. The idea is to place the lowest wager on the best odds that you think will win. A trusted bookie is a good thing but only if you work with him otherwise you loose.

follow aj martins money when it goes down for his horses. about 15 - 30 mins b4 a race he gets his money and usually hes spot on.
apparently he waits to see what shape his horse is on the day and that of other runners. never bets antepost just on track.
he has 4 runners i think going to cheltenham and the bookies are shitting themselves in case he lands a touch..
have a look to see if the price drops significantly just before the off, then is a good time to lump on!

I don't and I do not think that 99.9% of the punters do.
